Disabled people decided to hold their own Paralympic style opening ceremony. They were very critical of the private company ATOS, who have been carrying out work capability assessments on behalf of the Govt, and are also major sponsors of the Paralympic Games. The disabled campaigners claim that ATOS are instrumental in carrying out Govt policy to reduce welfare benefits to sick and disabled people.
