Transport for London have put out to consultation plans to build a new tunnel under the River Thames at Silvertown. Claims have been made that this will reduce congestion as well as revitalise the local economy. The young women from the Focus E15 Housing campaign held a funday on the Carpenters Estate in Stratford before leaving the flats they had occupied for two weeks. They had transformed the previously boarded up flats into a social centre as part of their campaign for decent genuinely affordable housing.

Flights from London City Airport started up back in 1987. Since then it has gradually increased the number of flights and the consequential impact on the local environment and residents. The New Economics Foundation recently published a report assessing the economic impact closing down the airport completely would have and also looked at alternative uses for the site.
